Q. I am looking for biographical information, are there any specific resources?

Answer

Yes, we have several options. These are some of your best bets. You'll be asked to login with your delaGATE credentials to access these databases:

  • Credo Reference: This is our largest collection of encyclopedias and reference works, and includes thousands of biographies. Search the name of a person and view the results. If too many options come up, try narrowing to Biography under the Subject box on the left of the screen.
  • Great Lives from History and Great Events from History: These encyclopedia series are available in print at the Marple Learnign Commons and also online with your delaGATE login credentials. Search a person's name in the search box, or browse each book title for biographies.
  • Proquest Global Newsstream: If your subject is more recent, try this newspaper collection. Newspapers often feature profiles of interesting and important public figures.

Depending on the topic you're researching, you can also try a more discipline-specific database. For instance, our literature databases provide biographies of important authors, and Business Source Premier contains biographies of influential innovators.
