How do I cite a film or movie in MLA style?

Answer

Films can be listed with the title first.  Alternately, if you are citing the contribution of an individual, cite with their name first.

The Dark Knight. Directed by Christopher Nolan, Warner Brothers Entertainment, 2008.  

 

Parenthetical citation: (The Dark Knight 00:12:30-00:14:41)

Narrative citation: In The Dark Knight, Wayne initially supports Dent even though he is his romantic rival (00:12:30-00:14:41).

Nolan, Christopher, director. The Dark Knight. Warner Brothers Entertainment, 2008. 

OR

Bale, Christian, performer. The Dark Knight. Warner Brothers Entertainment, 2008. 

 

Parenthetical citation: (Bale 00:12:30-00:14:41)

Narrative citation: Bale masterfully portrays Wayne's deception, allowing Wayne to practically admit he is Batman without anyone believing him. (00:12:30-00:14:41).
